In addition to numerous other health benefits, Tocotrienols have been studied in a human clinical trial of postmenopausal osteopenia subjects and reductions in bone loss were observed. In this 12-week study of 87 postmenopausal women, DeltaGold® annatto tocotrienol was administered at dosages of 300 and 600mg/day. Both doses led to decreased bone resorption and improved bone formation. One bone biomarker, the BALP/NTX ratio, which is a measure of bone remodeling, increased 100% after 12 weeks. In addition, the RANKL/OPG ratio that indicates bone resorption is high was reduced 13-24% after 12 weeks, whereas this ratio increased 21-36% in the placebo group. Furthermore, the use of annatto tocotrienol for application in postmenopausal women was shown to be safe.

Geranylgeraniol (GG)
Healthy Bones Co. Annatrol™ Bone Support also contains 300mg of Geranylgeraniol (GG), a compound synthesized endogenously in the human body via the mevalonate pathway–the same biochemical pathway by which cholesterol, vitamin K2, steroid hormones and ubiquinone (CoQ10) are synthesized.
As such, it plays a critical role in tissue systems and metabolic processes throughout the body, including healthy mitochondrial function and the generation of ATP–the currency of energy in all mammals including humans.
GG occurs naturally in various foods, but the majority is synthesized endogenously. GG is an essential building block that supports protein synthesis, muscle health, bone health, hormone regulation and CoQ10 synthesis. Production of GG declines naturally during aging and is inhibited by use of certain pharmaceutical drugs, namely, statins and bisphosphonates.
Vitamin K2, also known as menaquinone, comes in different forms like MK-4 and MK-7, each with a unique structure. MK-4 is the primary form found in the body and is crucial for managing calcium transport, especially to the bones. Many studies have now confirmed, Geranylgeraniol (GG) is required for the synthesis of MK-4 in the body.

Clinically Proven Support for Postmenopausal Bone Health
Tocotrienols have been clinically studied for their bone health benefits, particularly in postmenopausal women with osteopenia. In a 12-week trial involving 87 participants, DeltaGold® annatto tocotrienol was administered at 300mg and 600mg daily.
Both doses resulted in decreased bone resorption and improved bone formation. Notably, the BALP/NTX ratio—an indicator of bone remodeling—doubled, while the RANKL/OPG ratio, a marker of bone loss, dropped by 13–24%, compared to a 21–36% increase in the placebo group. The study also confirmed the safety of annatto tocotrienol in this population.*
