Most collagen powders are all-purpose by design. FORTIBONE® was developed with one specific job in mind: supporting bone.
A Precisely Defined Ingredient
"Collagen" on a label can mean a lot of different things, since generic powders vary widely in how they're processed and what they contain. FORTIBONE® is made through a specific process that breaks type I collagen, the same type that makes up most of your bone's protein framework, into peptides of a carefully controlled size and makeup. That consistency is what allows researchers to study it reliably, and it's why so many shoppers browsing our Bone Density Supplements collection start here.
Research Focused On Bone
While most collagen research centers on smoother skin or more comfortable joints, FORTIBONE® has been studied for bone-specific outcomes such as bone mineral density and markers of bone formation. That doesn't mean other collagens are useless, but it does mean FORTIBONE® has evidence that most of them don't.
How It's Thought To Work
Your bones are constantly being reconstructed by specialized cells called osteoclasts (which break down old bone) and osteoblasts (which build new bone). Researchers believe FORTIBONE® peptides may send signals that encourage the bone-building cells to stay active, supporting the production of fresh bone matrix. This mechanism is still being examined, but the human research below shows promising results.
What The Research Shows About FORTIBONE® And Bone Health
The reason FORTIBONE® earns so much attention is that it has real human studies behind it.
The 12-Month Clinical Trial
In a randomized, placebo-controlled trial, postmenopausal women with age-related bone loss took either 5 grams of FORTIBONE® or a placebo every day for 12 months. Of the 131 women who enrolled, 102 completed the study. Compared with placebo, the FORTIBONE® group saw statistically significant improvements in bone mineral density at both the spine and the femoral neck, the upper part of the thigh bone near the hip (König et al., 2018).
What The Blood Work Revealed
The lab results backed up the scans. P1NP, a blood marker that reflects new bone being built, increased in the collagen group, while CTX-1, a marker of bone breakdown, held steady (König et al., 2018). In other words, building activity went up while breakdown didn't follow.
Four Years Later
A smaller follow-up study tracked 31 of these women over four years of daily supplementation and found continued increases in spinal and femoral neck bone density (Zdzieblik et al., 2021). Because everyone in the follow-up took collagen and there was no placebo group, it can't prove that collagen alone caused those changes, but the results were encouraging and consistent with the original trial.
Paired With Calcium And Vitamin D
A separate study added 5 grams of FORTIBONE® to a daily calcium and Vitamin D3 supplement in postmenopausal women with low bone mass. Within three months, markers of bone turnover dropped significantly in the FORTIBONE® group, while the calcium and Vitamin D group alone saw no change (Argyrou et al., 2020).
Overall, these studies above focus on a specific group, so FORTIBONE® isn't a guarantee for everyone or a replacement for medical care. But for a supplement ingredient, this level of targeted human research is rare.
Who Should Consider A FORTIBONE® Collagen Supplement
Because FORTIBONE® was studied in a well-defined group, it's easier to see who stands to benefit most.
Postmenopausal Women
This is who the research was built around. If you're a woman in your 50s, 60s, or 70s focused on staying strong, active, and independent, FORTIBONE® was studied with you in mind. Many women in this stage pair it with a dedicated Bone Support Supplement routine for more complete coverage.
Men Focused On Healthy Aging
Men lose bone, too, just usually later and more gradually. The key FORTIBONE® studies were done on women, so benefits for men haven't been directly demonstrated, but the collagen type and bone-building processes involved are similar for everyone.
Anyone Building A Complete Plan
FORTIBONE® works best as part of a broader strategy that includes good nutrition, regular movement, and adequate vitamins and minerals. For those managing a diagnosis, it might complement, not replace, care from your doctor and a well-chosen set of Osteoporosis Supplements.
Our FORTIBONE® Collagen Powder: Total Body Formula
Healthy Bones Co. Collagen Peptides delivers the full, research-studied 5-gram dose of FORTIBONE® in every serving, plus three more patented collagen peptides for whole-body support. It’s a wonderful complement to anything else in our Bone Strength Supplement line.
What's Inside Every Scoop
Each serving of our Collagen Peptides combines four patented bioactive collagen peptides, each chosen for a specific role, so you're supporting your bones, joints, skin, and connective tissue all at once.
- 5 g FORTIBONE®: The exact dose used in clinical research to support bone mineral density and bone formation.
- 5 g FORTIGEL®: Studied for supporting joint cartilage and comfortable movement.
- 2.5 g VERISOL®: Studied for supporting skin elasticity and nail strength.
- 0.5 g Tendon Support Matrix: Included to support the tendons and ligaments that keep your joints stable.
Easy To Love, Easy To Take
Our collagen is hydrolyzed, meaning it's been broken into small pieces that dissolve completely in hot or cold drinks, so there are no clumps floating on top of your coffee. Plus, it has no taste or smell, which means you can stir it into water, coffee, tea, smoothies, oatmeal, or even soup without changing a thing about how they taste. It's also dairy-free, gluten-free, GMO-free, sugar-free, made in the USA, and third-party tested.
Pick Your Packaging And Supply
Choose a pouch or tub, both holding the exact same formula, in a 1-month (30 servings), 3-month (90 servings), or 6-month (180 servings) supply. Since the research followed daily use over many months, the 3- or 6-month option is the smartest place to start. Enjoy free shipping on orders over $129, subscribe and save 10%, and pause or cancel anytime.
Round Out Your Routine
Collagen provides the framework, and minerals fill it in. Vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium, while magnesium and Vitamin K each play their own role in bone health. Adding our Daily D3 + K2/K1 and Magnesium from our Bone Health Vitamins collection helps cover more of your nutritional bases. However, if you take warfarin, check with your doctor before adding Vitamin K.
Why Choose Powder Over FORTIBONE® Collagen Capsules
You may come across FORTIBONE® collagen capsules and wonder if they're more convenient. The challenge is the dose. The research used 5 full grams of FORTIBONE® per day, and a standard capsule typically holds less than one gram, so reaching the studied amount would mean swallowing a handful of capsules every day, often at a much higher cost per serving.
By contrast, a single scoop of powder delivers the full 5 grams in seconds, plus the other three peptides in our formula, which is why we chose powder. If you're comparing options, our Best Bone Health Supplements collection shows how our collagen fits alongside the rest of our bone-focused lineup.
How To Get Started
Mix one scoop (about 13.4 grams) into 8 to 16 ounces of water or your favorite drink each day, or as directed by your healthcare practitioner. For the smoothest blend, add the powder to your cup before pouring in the liquid. Take it at the same time each day to build the habit, pair it with regular movement and enough protein, and check in with your provider about tracking your bone density over time.
